Sultan M. Al Qahtani

Sultan M. Alqahtani has 20+ years of experience with Saudi Aramco, where he has managed several major IT projects, developed a framework for the governance, budget planning, scheduling, cost controls, contracts/materials procurements & supply chain management supporting the yearly $40M IT projects. He also assumed the leader role representing Saudi Aramco Information Technology Admin Area to plan and track the macroeconomic targets for IT contracts, which contributed to the corporate In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA). In his current roles working with Tanajib IT Division under Area Information Technology Department, Sultan is co-leading the “Reduce Carbon Footprint in Saudi Aramco Telecommunications Building” Initiative in line with the corporate’s sustainability strategy as well as Digital & Information Technology (D&IT) Decarbonization Program to reduce carbon emission. The scope of this initiative is to deploy renewal energy solutions in both manned and unmanned telecommunications buildings with to reduce CO2 emission by 3000 metric ton in 2025 as well as extend lifecycle and minimize maintenance overheads. He is also working closely with Marjan Increment program to proactively support on reviewing and commissioning all new telecommunications systems ensuring secure and safe integration of new systems with the corporate network infrastructure. This program, which consists of 9 capital projects (BIs), will construct a new onshore Tanajib Gas Plant (TGP) to process 2.5 MMSCFD of gas and it will also build a new offshore Marjan GOSP-4 an expand the existing onshore Tanajib Oil Plant to process and produce additional 300 MBCD of crude oil.

Additionally, sultan is currently a member of the internal committee formed under Area IT Department to review all applicable Saudi Aramco standards, most recently the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), which is still under development and expected to be issued by mid-2023. In 2009, he was heavily involved to revise the Telecom OSP underground conduit pathways and spaces as well as the Building Cable Systems, Pathways and Spaces standards. Sultan has successfully earned the RCDD in 2007, OSP in 2009 and NTS in 2011. Sultan is also registered as Consultant Engineer with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) and possesses PMP, RMP, Aruba Certified Wireless Professional (ACWP) and Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP).

Sultan M. Al-Qahtani holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and a second M.S. degree in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology (USA) in 1999 and 2001 respectively.
